Salt Lake City, May 24 in the afternoon is now ready for booking.] The amazing thing is that most of these were created, built and run by people I have never met before. Satisfied readers decided it would be fun to see if they could organize hundreds of people, find a venue, work with a bookstore and pull the entire thing off. And they have. It's gratifying and humbling, and a testament to what one person with dedication can do now that we all have access to the network.
We still need to get more people to make that happen and today is our deadline. Please pledge at: www.pledgebank.com/SethGodinUtah Don't keep it to yourself, ask three more people to do the same.
It is today! Our webinar on how to grow a multi-level organization online. The biggest challenges, the consumer and the key points to do and succeed. You cannot miss this one. It is free to attend. Register at: http://www.buzzbooster.com/mlmwebinar.htm

Earth Day is a day that was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson and focuses on environmental awareness. Another Earth Day called International Earth Day that takes place earlier in the year on the Spring Equinox. Earth Day is Sunday, April 22, 2007 in the United States this year. It is Tuesday, April 22, 2008 next year.
I found some tips on how to organize e-mails to make life simple on Biztratblog and would like to share with you:
The main issues with e-mail (in my opinion) are that it 1) is on 24/7; 2) feeds upon itself; 3) is insidious in the tentacles it spreads in the in box -- one single e-mail, depending on how many individuals it is forwarded to multiplies exponentially without your ever having hit the "send" button. To gain control of your inbox you need to start at the beginning. Perhaps dedicate a day or a half a day to simply going through each and every unread message in your inbox. Yes, it's overwhelming but it's the only way to get off to a fresh start. Set a time frame within your mind as to when you will complete the task. If you want a clean inbox by May 1, know that you will have to whittle down the messages in chunks to get to that point.
Set up folders for e-mail, drag messages into those folders when they come in, but don't think that putting them in a folder makes them "out of sight, out of mind" it simply makes the inbox more manageable. Set up folders that make sense to you such as: pending jobs, meetings, information requests, etc.
We talked about Seth Godin and Squidoo this week many times and I didn't mention anything about my lens. I built my lens when Squidoo was just a baby. Of course, it is about Internet marketing. I have some cool tips there. Take a look: BuzzBooster Internet Marketing Lens
Not a day goes without a client coming to our office and complaining that he just can't keep up with his e-mails. It is really becoming overwhelming. Besides the personal and business e-mails, people have to deal with tons of marketers sending e-mails sometimes several times a day, all the viruses, Nigeria Dear Madam scams and viagra stuff. When we create strategies for our clients we try as many alternatives as possible to avoid using e-mails as a marketing tool. Even for newsletters and auto-responders we tell them to send one every quarter or every month. We still use a weekly newsletter just because it is about weekly events. The good side is that today with social media, you do have options to target your audience in different ways and understand that they can and should get your message when they want and if they want. I know, easy said than done. We are in business, and a channel of communication with prospects and clients is really important and e-mails are so easy and cheap, but I guess somethings will change in the near future so why not exercise other tools?
Tagging of the blog document may be a positive indication of the quality of the blog document. Some existing sites allow users to add “tags” to (i.e., to “categorize”) a blog document. These custom categorizations are an indicator that an individual has evaluated the content of the blog document and determined that one or more categories appropriately describe its content, and as such are a positive indicator of the quality of the blog document.
Last week a group of Utah bloggers started and effort to bring the marketer Seth Godin to Utah. Seth is going to several cities around the country talking about his new book The Dip. To be able to bring Seth to Utah, we need 500 people to pledge to pay $50 to see him speak. This needs to happen before this Friday. So far we have 80 people and a few sponsorships. Seth Godin is one of the great marketers of our time, author of several books like All marketers are liars and Small is the new big. People pay thousands of dollars to see him speak. What about Utah? Is the state ready to receive a speaker of such caliber? Are people really willing to learn and improve their business skills? I do hope you are. You can pledge at: http://www.pledgebank.com/SethGodinUtah
Since we have the business to business coming next week here in Utah, here are some tips:
Make certain that someone is always staffing your booth and ready to greet visitors. Regardless of how well designed your display may be, it is no substitute for the information that prospective clients can obtain only by interacting with you. · Greet each person as you would a guest in your home. Don't jump right in to a sales pitch!
· After briefly interacting with a visitor and having pre-qualified them as a potential client (or not), offer them an appropriate piece of literature along with your business card. Never hand out your most expensive literature, save that for the first meeting.
· Follow up! A thank you note and/or phone call to all visitors who expressed an interest in your product or service is essential, or else you just wasted all your time and money at the trade show.
Utah blogs are buzzing about the chance we have to get the legendary Seth Godin to visit Utah as part of his new book tour. We just need 500 people to each pay $50 (and get 5 copies of his new book) so that he will stop here on his tour.
We’re running out of time: He started one of the first internet companies, yoyodyne, which was acquired by Yahoo, he then became a VP at Yahoo. He more recently started a Web2.0 company, squidoo. He is always talking about internet marketing – he’s one of the experts on it, and he has one of the most popular blogs on the internet. …. We have a HUGE opportunity to get Seth to come speak to us here in Utah! People have tried to get him to come speak here in the past but to no avail. Now, it will take the efforts of us all in order to bring him here on May 24th of this year! To get him here, we need to get 500 people willing to pay $50.00 to hear him. Not only will you have an opportunity to hear him speak, you’ll get 5 copies of his new book, The Dip. We are gathering pledges to pay to hear him to see if we can get 500 people to pledge (instead of gathering money up front).
If you’re interested in hearing Seth speak, you need to:
I like Seth Godin a lot, in fact, I talk about him almost every time I'm invited to speak about internet marketing. Just finished reading his book Small in the new Big and I highly recommend. A group of bloggers here in town is trying to bring him to speak here. This is a great opportunity for any entrepreneur and business owner. They are asking people to pledge $50 to help bring Seth here. You'll receive 5 books for that. Nashlah and I already made our pledge. You can do yours here:Seth Godin Pledge Bank
Apple announced today that they sold 100 million Ipods.
What does it mean? For all those that still think Ipods and podcasts are a fad, this should tell them something. It also shows that the consumer is really looking to get media when they want and where they want. Can we say we now are really on the On Demand media age?
When network marketers come online to grow their businesses, they face some challenges. Most of the time, the company gives them a pretty website with their unique address or several squeeze pages. They are pretty but the traffic never comes and so, as a next step, people in network marketing start buying leads from some companies. After a good amount of dollars spent, they realize that the leads are not qualified. They get really frustrated and many times, just don't pay attention to the online part of their business. That is sad, because the potential for this kind of business online is just huge. It would be a lot better to understand that anybody coming online to do business needs to have some basic internet marketing knowledge. Understand how things work and be able to have control over their online business. If you don't have control over your online business, you don't have a business online. Plain and simple. I'll talk about how to overcome these problems in my next free webinar about online marketing for the network marketing industry. Check here: http://www.buzzbooster.com/mlmwebinar.htm
This is the reproduction of an interview we gave for Zions Bank newsletter "Taking Care of Business". They just published it.
Marketing Your Business Online Using Today's 'Social Media' Social media guru Shahar Boyayan says the days of relying solely ontraditional media to market your business and reach your customers areover. It used to be that you took your message to traditional media outletslike newspapers, TV, and radio stations and hoped to reach your targetaudience. But unless you had a Madison Avenue marketing budget, yourreach was limited. The new dynamic in marketing and branding is "online social media," aterm that loosely describes any kind of online media that connectspeople, invites participation, creates a sense of community and invitesopenness, says Boyayan. The marketing efforts of Blendtec, a blender manufacturer based in Orem,is the perfect example of how a company can use online social media fordramatic results. Marketing Director George Wright says Blendtec hasbeen around for 25 years (generally known by its parent company K-tec).“Most of our history has been with grain milling and grain grinders, butfor the past 10 years we’ve had the best blender technology in theindustry.” The question (and challenge) for Blendtec was how to let the world knowthat a little company based in Orem, Utah had the best blenders moneycould buy. “I had seen what our blenders could do and knew we justneeded to show the world,” Wright says. Today, Blendtec’s online sales have quadrupled last year’s records and30 million viewers are talking about blenders at the dinner table, inboardrooms, online chat rooms, and everywhere else you can imagine.Blendtec employees have made appearances on “The Tonight Show” with JayLeno, the “Today Show,” and the “Food Network.” The company has beenfeatured by Charles Osgood’s radio show, on the cover of magazines, andreceives regular invitations for public speaking engagements.” Blendtec blenders have taken the industry by storm. How? A small arsenalof comical videos on YouTube.com and Willitblend.com, showing thatBlendtec blenders can make fodder of just about anything, from golfballs to iPods. “I tried to explain the potential of YouTube, but peoplejust couldn’t put an arm around it,” says Wright. But they do now. “Our videos on YouTube alone have received 15.7 million views. Neverbefore could we have received so much attention,” says Wright. “It’sbeen such a huge opportunity to break through the clutter and becomesomething that people talk about.” Blendtec’s social media campaign is all about brand awareness. Theonline videos and a Web blog have helped Blendtec establish its brandand given the company name recognition across the globe. “You will neverget consideration in a sale unless people know who you are,” Wrightsays. “Social media allows small businesses to convey their own message,” saysBoyayan. “Now you can self publish your message and it opens the door totraditional media.” Such has been the case for Blendtec. There are many tools in the social media revolution. As an example,Boyayan points to the success of a Web blog called “Kalyn’s Kitchen.”Blogger Kalyn Denny, of Salt Lake City, receives numerous invitationsfor speaking engagements and has built a community around her Web blog, according to Boyayan. So also has Bill Marriott, Chairman and CEO ofMarriott International. You might ask why Bill Marriott needs a blog, considering the success of his hotel chain. The answer, according toBoyayan is simple: he’s building a community and further enhancing hisbrand. Podcasts are another social media tool that can be used to help abusiness build its brand. Boyayan says she posts podcasts on herbusiness website, BuzzBoosters.com, to educate listeners about Internetmarketing and growing small businesses. Most social media tools require little in the way of technology. “Blogsare very easy to do,” according to Boyayan, and with RSS (real simplesyndication) subscribers can read your posts where and when they want. The same is true for podcasts, which can be downloaded and listened toat the convenience of the patron. Whatever form of social media you choose, Boyayan offers this caution:“You have to create an online strategy and give your audience a call toaction. Your online message needs to be connected to your business insome way, otherwise it has no value for you.” If you are interested insocial media, how it might work for your company, or what tools arerequired, contacting Boyayan at Buzz Boosters is a great place to start.

I've been playing with Twitter for a while trying to find good uses for businesses. I can see that for internet marketing is probably a good tool to keep you informed. What about other businesses? Do you have any ideas?
I found a great way to use Twitter for network marketers. I'll talk about it in my next webinar, "The other side of Network marketing" The internet has many ways to improve a multi level business, not only generating new leads, as most people in this industry use the internet for. It also has great ways to keep the downlines one has and training them.
So Apple closed a deal with EMI to have the songs on Itunes. No Beatles though. I understand why they don't allow Beatles songs in comercials etc. It is a premium product and you don't want to banalize. That is good branding. I agree. But not allow for mp3 distribution? You hear Beatles on the radio. Podcasts are just another distribution channel. It is promotion! Don't you think?
There were some weird events happening last week in the blog world that you might want to check it out: Search Marketing Guru and Kathy Sierra and Robert Scoble. Just plain sad. I also just watched an interview on the Today Show about Justin tv. Makes me wonder if the younger generation doens't lack challenges and goals. It sounds like good content is not necessary and that there is nothing out there that deserves more that a peek.
