E-mail marketing: Good or Bad?
It is really becoming overwhelming. Besides the personal and business e-mails, people have to deal with tons of marketers sending e-mails sometimes several times a day, all the viruses, Nigeria Dear Madam scams and viagra stuff.
When we create strategies for our clients we try as many alternatives as possible to avoid using e-mails as a marketing tool. Even for newsletters and auto-responders we tell them to send one every quarter or every month.
We still use a weekly newsletter just because it is about weekly events.
The good side is that today with social media, you do have options to target your audience in different ways and understand that they can and should get your message when they want and if they want.
I know, easy said than done. We are in business, and a channel of communication with prospects and clients is really important and e-mails are so easy and cheap, but I guess somethings will change in the near future so why not exercise other tools?

Hey guys, I just read an article that said that the top two advertising tactics companies will be using in 2007 are email ads and pay-per-click ads. I understand why pay-per-click advertising is so popular, but I don't understand the email thing because like you say, most of the email advertising I see is for viagra etc. Can you shed any light on this.
I'm interested because our authors at ZDocs all want to promote their books with email campaigns. What do you think aobut that?
