Marketing: Consumer in control?
I don't care much about the other stuff, but I like to get my breakfast there.
well, Mc Donald's decided that people should have their breakfast until 10:30 am, on Saturdays and Sundays until 11am. Usually if you are 3 minutes late, you cannot get the breakfast.
This includes the fact that if the line is too big, because there is only one girl to get the orders and fulfill them, and time goes by, you're not going to get your breakfast either.
Their fault, my hunger!
So there is no half an hour more in bed on Sundays if I want to eat my bacon egg and cheese buscuit there.
Today a lady came at 10:50 am.
She wanted to have lunch. Nope, no, cannot, have to wait 10 more minutes.
No eating lunch here before 11am.
Well, she waited, but she was furious, a very unsatisfied customer.
And why? because of 10 minutes?
We read a lot that the consumer today is in control, about having businesses that are an experience etc.
But try to get the breakfast your way at McDonald's.
Would it be too difficult to adapt the production line and serve breakfast and lunch at whatever time the customer decides to have it?
I don't think so.
Since I eat there many days a week, I see this happen over and over again.
I can only say one thing: this part of their marketing strategy is broken, needs to be fixed.
Let people eat their breakfast and lunch when they feel like, not when you think they should eat.
