Online Positioning

Small businesses don’t understand that they first have to get into people’s minds. First they have to let people know that they are there, and then they advertise to remind them.
This is called positioning when you position yourself in the mind of the consumer. This is the first thing, and this is done through promoting yourselfo in a way that people will remember you when they think about your product or service. This is done through promotion, then later when you are established in the market, you go and invest in advertising.
Don't go spending money on advertising if you haven't positioned your business yet.
You need to start thinking about your story, what makes you and your business unique.
Your business is not unique because it offers good customer service or good price. That is basic to any good business. What really makes you unique among the crowd. When you find that, you can start thinking how you should position yourself in the market.
